Cruiser AURORA artifact LOT 1917 Russian Revolution 4 items Original, Fast SHip
An incredible opportunity to own real pieces of Russian Revolution (and beyond) history. Every sailor's stationed on the famous Aurora was issued one of these.

It measures 2-1/4 high by 2-1/4" wide and is approx 1/8" thick. It has seen usage but all stampings are clear and readable. I have provenance on this item. At this time, Russia's bloody and costly involvement in WWI had become a source of anger and resentment toward the country's leaders, and it was on the edge of a revolution.

While Aurora was in Saint Petersburg, some of her crew participated in the 1917 February Revolution. The cruiser then became a key location for the revolutionaries, who used her as a base to plan and launch revolutionary activities. The majority of her crew joined the Bolsheviks and prepared for the Communist revolution. And the beginning of the October Revolution.

Aurora was docked in Leningrad and had her guns removed to help defend the city. She was sunk in her harbor in September 1941 after repeated shelling and bombing, but was later raised and repaired, becoming a training vessel for the Nakhimov Naval School.

After the war, she was repaired and permanently anchored at Saint Petersburg, where she became a symbol of the October Revolution. I have provenance on thCyrillic.

Included in this lot is a reproduction sailor's tally (cap ribbon) bearing the name AURORA in cyrillic and is of historical regulation length. Also included is a set of WW2 era Baltic Fleet shoulder boards. Please feel free to ask any questions. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Militaria\1903-13\Original Period Items".
